5 of Malaysia’s instant noodles are among the best in Asia

HERE’S proof that Malaysian instant noodles are hot stuff.

Instant noodle review site The Ramen Rater sees Malaysian-made instant noodles dominating the reviewer’s ‘Top Ten Instant Noodles of All Time 2015 Edition’ holding the top, second, fourth, sixth and seventh spots. That’s 5 out of 10 noodles that tops the Asian list.

MyKuali, a brand under Penang-based Sky Thomas Food Industries Sdn Bhd, topped the list with the Penang Red Tom Yam Goong Noodle flavour for its broth.

According to The Ramen Rater, the broth is “not only strong but it’s got a thickness to it, and has that kind of aroma and consistency of a broth that’s been stewing all day long.”

“Strong spicy heat, lemongrass and shrimp notes play throughout as well as a nice bit of sweetness. This is spectacular.” added the reviewer.

Two more MyKuali instant noodles — the Penang White Curry Noodle and Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodle — took the number two and number seven spots, respectively.

Local instant noodle brand, CarJEN, is a new entry this year at fourth place with its Nyonya Curry Laksa flavour.

Mamee Chef Gold Recipe Mi Kari Seribu Rasa is rated number six.

The other five noodles are Prima Taste’s Laksa La Mian and Curry La Mian from Singapore, Mama’s Oriental Style Instant Noodles Green Curry Flavour from Thailand, Maruchan Gotsumori Sauce Yakisoba from Japan and A-Sha Veggie Noodle Tomato Noodle with Vine Ripened Tomato Sauce from Taiwan

The Ramen Rater, which has reviewing instant noodles since 2002, has attracted fans from all over the world as well as instant noodle manufacturers.

It is created and managed by Hans Lienesch, whose love affair with the product started as a young boy.
