The first person was inches away from certain death but instead escaped with just an injured left hand when a concrete slab from the construction of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) fell and hit her car today on 19th September 2020.
Cheras district police chief Mohd Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said that the woman was driving along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) from Sungai Besi towards Ampang and was nearing a petrol station in Bandar Tasik Selatan when the one-metre square concrete slab fell on her car.
“The 25-year-old woman, who was driving a Proton Saga BLM, was rescued by members of the public before being sent to hospital for treatment,” he said.
The incident caused traffic congestion lasting two hours, while traffic was diverted.

The second person had a close shave with death after a part of a tower crane fell off a trailer and hit her car at Jalan SS2/24, Petaling Jaya, on 19th September.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said in the 5.45pm incident, the 25-year-old victim was driving a Perodua Myvi car and was on her way home.
“When she was driving at the location, suddenly a part of tower crane fell off the trailer and hit her car.
“Following the impact, the roof, windscreen and several other parts of the car were damaged but the victim escaped with no injuries,” he said in a statement.

A third accident in heavy rain on 20th September night near the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) construction site caused speculation on social media of a repeat mishap just a day after a concrete slab fell off the parapet, crushing a passing car.
The speculation prompted highway concessionaire Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) to deny there was any link between last night’s accident and SUKE.
Prolintas said police were investigating the case as one of hit-and-run.
The accident, in Taman Bukit Cheras, is believed to have involved a car and a private crane that was passing through the area, where construction of the elevated highway is taking place. According to preliminary information, the driver was not injured and was extricated by firemen.

Looking at the photos, I was pretty sure the driver in the concrete slab incident was dead until I scrolled down to see a photo of her out from the car and resting by the road side waiting for the ambulance. Truly a miracle that she was only lightly injured.
