1. Rihana was single when she won the title of Miss Moscow 2015

“I do not have a boyfriend,” she said. “And I think that it would be harder for me to win, if I had.

“Because every boyfriend, if he let his girl go to the beauty contest, she will not be his girlfriend any more. Because she will get lots of attention, secondly she doesn’t have any time for a private life and finally I think it will be a distraction. I will have the relations when my heart will tell. So far it is silent.”

2. Rihana’s taste in men has changed over the years

Nevertheless, Rihana has remained a traditionalist at heart, with her saying in later reports that “the man must be the head of the family and of course shall not earn less than a woman”.

“When I was performing [at the contest] there was my father sitting in the hall and he was like a reference point for me,” she has said.

“I was watching only him and performing only for him.

A number of designs from Rihana’s swimwear collection have been worn by other beauty pageant contestants.

Her business sense perhaps comes from her educational background, as she is believed to have graduated from the faculty of business at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, an elite university in Moscow.

5. Rihana faced a complicated pregnancy

The royal couple welcomed their first son, Leon, on May 21, but the journey leading up to his birth was anything but straightforward.

Within days of their extravagant Moscow wedding, the newlyweds were said to have been seen visiting a fertility clinic in Germany.

Rihana had also spent the final trimester of her pregnancy in hospital, “staying in bed with droppers in my both hands,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

“I had too many difficulties with pregnancy”.

Even after Leon’s birth, they faced complications when the newborn lost too much weight and developed jaundice.

Thankfully, he has recovered and “enjoys cuddling very much”, Rihana said.

She also said she is relishing every moment of motherhood, which she describes as “the most beautiful period in the life of any woman”.
