Jiangsu factory explosion kills 68, injures 180

An explosion this morning at a Jiangsu factory killed 68 people and left at least a hundred injured.

The blast occurred around 7:30am 02.08.2014 at an automobile wheel polishing workshop owned by the Taizhou Zhongrong Metal Products company in Kunshan, a city in the south of China’s Jiangsu Province.

According to local CCTV reports, the explosion may have been caused by an overheated boiler.

Local Kunshan hospital staff confirmed at around 9:40am this morning that well over a hundred victims have been admitted for both burn wounds and respiratory infections sustained from breathing smoke.

Multiple medical teams are currently at the scene of the disaster and Taizhou Zhongrong Metal Products officials have yet to comment on the incident.
